worthwhile films...Mrs. Dalloway...and The Hours

Both are amongst our favorites - we watched Mrs D again last night. What a remarkable story Virginia Woolf wrote (on which this movie is based), so complex, so many intertwined themes, which allows for seeing something different each time.

Then after that, consider what a marvel The Hours is, which takes Mrs. Dalloway and weaves in additional complexity by two additional factors and brings the story both forward and backward.

After sitting through coming attractions for a handful of loud, shoot 'em up movies that will never be on our watch list, it is so wonderful to have films that require something from the watcher - patience, concentration, and attention - and repay so much for those efforts.
