I just didn't watch his show for the first 20 yrs, vaguely knew it was some kind of raunch, but was puzzled the few times I saw him on talk shows where he was very pleasant and mild and intelligent.
So this past year I started watching (and the POVICH), and there was that raunch that soon became totally repetitive and predictable. And I love history of the ancients, and frequently the thought occurred that a mob yelling for blood or yelling Scarlet-Letter-words at featured persons, THIS must have been what the entertainments in Rome must have been like, in spirit if not in literal blood.
And I was predisposed to think of Jerry as a mere exploiter of cheap human frailties. But this guy is SO KIND, whether it's an act fine, but he gives each person his due as a human despite whatever behavior.
As a politician, he is a great Lib. He lost his entire family in the Holocaust but doesn't make that his calling card. Yes, he had a prostitution scandal. Yet, even though it's not going to happen, he would be a FANTASTIC Dem candidate/office holder. For years I've said we need candidates who are PERFORMERS, who have the COMMON TOUCH, the talents of a carnival barker, who understand the common humanity in everybody and can get people to understand that he accepts and cares for and is one of them/us.
Now what will I answer myself with?!1
