I don't think that I can take it

'Cause it took so long to bake it

And I'll never have that recipe again, oh no

I didn't know about the annual posting; I swear, I did not. Yet, just last night, 2/1/13, at approximately 8 PM EST, I began to hum it. This is not something that I do often, or ever. It was while putting candles on my son's birthday cake. Yes, I hummed that line about leaving the cake out in the rain and then, as is obligatory at such times, mused on whether it was the worst line in the annals of bad song writing or if the somewhat operatic vocal interpretation made it seem even worse than it actually is, which might be just merely very bad. Then we proceeded with birthday stuff and thought no more about it. I wake this morning to find that, in fact, Mr. Scorpio has sent out MIND CONTROL BRAINWAVES or something to implant the idea in our heads. That's really quite impressive when you get right down to it.

This was just a test, wasn't it? Next time it's going to be a call to some sort of action isn't it? Come clean Mr. Scorpio!

now I'm starting to visualize hundreds of green melting cakes, flying in formation,
getting ready to attack our brains

Zombie cakes!

that some song lyrics are not really profound, just obscure and meaningless.

...but I admit it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

Maybe it's because I'm a huge Jimmy Webb fan.

The ad showed all sorts of news images from the '60s. So that part of the song is firmly ingrained in my mind as a summation of the '60s.
