I had to put my truck in 4x4 to drive it off of his car. Not a scratch on my Ram, but his Oldsmobile was done. I felt really sorry for the guy though, because he was a middle-aged pizza delivery driver using his own car.

At any rate, the protagonist was part oriental and very, very skilled, maybe he grew up learning from a master or something.

He was cool and unassuming and he drove an old Volvo.

The kids in his neighborhood, all in good fun, used to throw stuff at him as he drove along.
