Have you ever been to a clothing optional place for vacation?

I have a friend in another state and every couple of years or so we take a vacation together. We decided we should plan something for this summer. So earlier today I checked my voice mail and it was from him. He left a message along the lines of, "We should check out one of those clothing optional places for vacation this year." I called him back and he was totally serious!

Now, I'm far from being a prude, but I've never been to one of these places. Are they worth planning a vacation around? I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for information. What do you think?

because I've been known to make clothes optional for me...

btw, I live about 30 minutes from a nudist resort but I've never been. I'd like to though. My brother was a cook and handyman for one in his younger days.

I don't know because I've never been to one. It does sound intriguing though. I thought maybe someone who has been to one could tell me what it's like so I know what to expect. If everybody is nude I suppose I would do it too, but I can't imagine I would be nude 24 hours a day the whole time I'm there.

He got a liking for it when he was stationed in Germany because apparently they don't mind being naked at the lake/beach/bath houses etc...He worked for next to nothing at the resort because they gave him a trailer to stay in and he could be naked any time he wanted.

I suspect, as much as I hate to wear any clothes just in my house, if I was at a resort like that, my laundry bill would be very low. I think you have to carry a towel around to sit on stuff but other than that, I would be naked as much as possible.

My wife has no interest in it though and I don't have any interest in going without her - i get ripped off there - she was interested once before I met her and went with her then husband to a nude beach and had such a lousy time she's never wanted to try again. As usual with him, he was an ass and ruined it for me. lol. That was 30 years ago.

I don't know what was 'optional' about it, because if you wore a bathing suit you stuck out like a sore...um...THUMB. People snickered.

It took me about 5 minutes to get used to it, and then it seemed like the most natural thing in the world.

They did (nicely) explain to me that it was considered good manners, for health reasons, to carry a towel to sit on.

Clothing optional is just that. If you are around a bonfire at night you may want to wear clothing to avoid mosquitoes. Any place you are thinking of going will be happy to give you guidelines. Suggestion for your comfort. They want your repeat business. Have fun. Take pictures, when allowed.

Not everywhere is clothing completely optional: You have to wear proper shoes on the tennis courts!

I could be talked into going again. Especially now, to get away from MI winter.

She wants to go to a nude beach, but I'm having trouble finding one nearby. I've got time. It's fucking February!!! If we got out there today her nips would be an inch long and my dinky would be, well, dinky. That's just not a good combination on any level. July or August might be a better choice.

about 30 years ago, for a couple of years.

It was a beautiful location on a hillside, and had a swimming pool, tennis courts, hot tubs, and nice grassy areas to hang out.

I used it for awhile, but it was kind of far away from where I lived, and I really didn't have time to spend there to make it all worthwhile.

I do know that many of these resorts are very different from each other, so check them out online.

The owner, who started the place in the late '60s, passed away, and his children sold the place for it's land value, as urban sprawl had happened all around it.

It was called Elysium.

Here is some history of the old days, and on another more scandalous resort called Sandstone.

The nude side was not clothing "optional" for guys but women could keep their bikini bottoms on.

And been to clothing optional beaches in St. Martin - the French side of the island. The Dutch are a bit more American.

Beaches in France are top optional for women but we haven't been to any of the nude resorts. I don't like being mistaken for an outer marker for the nearest airport. I don't tan.

And be sure to check the calendar of events wherever you're going.

The week we went to the place in Jamaica they had a "Lifestyle Convention" (code for "swingers&quot .

Mrs GoS was NOT amused. The activities in the hot tub had to be seen to be believed.

And there was the lady next to us . . . well, some things are better left unsaid.
