Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm...we just finished first DVD of season 8....

talk about cringe factor - we've seen every episode and they all are just incredibly....indescribable. Any other CYE fans here? Talk about someone having no filter between their brain and mouth....and the ability to take the ideas of Seinfeld so much further....

1. Cringe-inducing, indeed, but I've laughed myself silly at some of them...

I remember a ludicrous scene in one of the early seasons that pitted one of the first tv "SURVIVOR" show winners arguing his experience against that of an elderly holocaust survivor... It was just ridiculous in every way possible, but really played on the cluelessness of some of this reality tv and celebrities in general. It was cringe-inducing hilarious.

Then there was the doll head episode--OMG.

Yes, I do think Larry may be just a bit more like this in real life than is comfortable to imagine.

4. I like the episode from Season 1 where Larry unintentionally misspells "beloved aunt" in a eulogy.

And it gets printed in the newspaper.


Another cringe inducing episode involved Larry having dinner at the house of a former porno star and refuses to take his shoes off.

2. I loved it. Not at first. I had to see a couple of episodes. Then I fell in love with it.

Was that on HBO? I had HBO for a while, but then cancelled it. No more CYE. Then reruns came on cable, and I saw some of those. I don't see them anywhere, now.

A couple of the episodes were too much for me, or too gross. Other than those, they were wonderfully funny.

I've been a CYE fan since the beginning. This is my all time favorite moment:

5. So funny! I particularly love his interactions with Leon.

LARRY: I'm not wearing no-fly underwear
LEON: You gotta do it. You got long balls, Larry. Long balls, you've got long-ass balls.
LARRY: I've got long balls?
LEON: Doctor, you said he's got long balls, right?
LARRY: Would you say I have unusually long..
DOCTOR: They're a bit more distended than the average testicles.
LEON: You got long-ass balls, Larry. "Long Ball Larry", that's your new name.
LARRY: Long balls..who would've known.
LEON: Long balls, change your draws.

9. The fake purse-snatching

Larry comes up with a scheme to ingratiate himself with his wife's therapist.

"Yeah, but it´s all for fun!"

10. Absolutely love him. You can see his genius in the Seinfeld episodes he did too. Did you know the

show is now on TVLand channel? They had a marathon last weekend.

11. The absolute best was when he was going to have sex with a woman and she had a pic of Bush

near the bed and he stopped and left.

Cheryl, his wife had given him one "freebee" for a 10th anniversary present.

Have to say, when they break up...it's not as good.

13. Did you know that episode got a guy off the hook for murder?

In 2003 a man named Juan Catalan was arrested for a murder in Los Angeles. He repeatedly professed his innocence and asked to take a lie detector test, a request that the police denied. He also had an alibi: he swore that at the time of the murder he was at Dodger Stadium with his little girl, watching the Dodgers vs. the Braves, but his lawyer was unable to find him in any of the Dodger Vision or FOX footage he subpoenaed. However, he discovered that there was another source of crowd footage in the episode Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Car Pool Lane, which had filmed at Dodger Stadium that night. Although Catalan did not make the final cut of the show, his lawyer was able to find him and his daughter in the outtakes, and determined from the timestamps on the tapes that Catalan could not have been the killer. When told that his show had released a wrongfully accused man from prison and a trial that could have led to the death penalty, Larry David commented, "I tell people that I've now done one decent thing in my life, albeit inadvertently."

15. That's my all-time favorite

There are so many funny bits in it - buying schwang from Curly from 'Lost', meeting the snobby guys from the golf club at the game while in the presence of the hooker, then his father smoking her weed for his glaucoma and being able to see her, and telling Larry, "she's a hooker".
