He was a street musician when I met him -- playing guitar and singing and making a very good
living at it (Germans supported street performers and artists much more than our culture does).
.
Trouble was... you couldn't qualify for a worker's visa as a street performer (even though he
made about 3x the money that he would have been making at a factory job). So every year,
he had to find someone to attest to the "fact" that he had a "real" job.

He recorded a cover of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and marketed it as a 45 rpm record... and did
VERY well with it.
