How wet is it? NWS says we've had over 6 inches of rain since Friday

And it is currently raining at several inches per hour. Our front yard is a stream and we have a lake in the lower pasture.

Saturday I had an event to attend. On the way home I had to drive through a rain white out - raining so hard I could not see the road. Before I got into it, I looked ahead and thought it was fog or smoke. There was a line past which everything just went white. I couldn't pull over, the sides of the road there are narrow with ditches that were full of water. In fact, the road, the ditches and any level ground near the road were one flat sheet of water.

It's rained harder than that a number of times since Saturday. According to the NWS we will get serious rain through tomorrow. We're under a flash flood warning right how.

This is Florida - where's my SUNSHINE?

and February is usually the rainy season on which we depend. And last year was a pretty dry year too.

I'm sorry to hear that your rain hasn't come. The one time I visited CA we in January 1978 and they were in the middle of a drought. It was so dry you couldn't get ice or water in restaurants. The ironic part was that when we came through Death Valley on the way to San Francisco, it rained there.

It was raining when we drove in at midnight, foggy the next morning when we went to the overlook:

The floor of the valley was a shallow lake as we drove out:

I wish we could have gone back in a week or two, since I've heard that is when the desert blooms, but we had reservations and an itinerary that kept that from happening.
