Did you ever have to serve time in detention hall?

I don't remember if I had to. I think I created the memory of one event just to avoid sounding like a boring student.

I never did anything bad enough to get detention.

And your edit applies to me as well. Me and my closer friends weren't goody two-shoes types, it's just that whatever rules we best or capers we pulled were all done with much shrewdness.

Really, the vast majority of people who got detention got it for just being stupid; I mean, they just didn't use their heads. It's almost as if they wanted to get caught, like somehow it was cool to be "bad".

3. Sophmore year hs, I was a regular....

used to cut Geometry class...ended up in detention at least twice a week!

5. I had an A in it...

until I discovered we were moving from NYC to PA and wanted a good excuse to stay behind for 'summer school! Of course, the bus that ran to summer school, also went to the beach with just one transfer! Ended up taking geometry and trig my senior year!

6. I had detention every Saturday for a month in HS

It wasn't too boring however. There was this bad boy who liked to piss off the teacher who was watching us. He kept being rude to this red head, but I think he really liked her. There was also this weird girl who ended up hanging out with the jock. I just say by myself writing most of the morning until our parents came to get us.

9. No ... although I was tossed out of HS English class several times

by Sister Mary Kristen (she didn't like me) and told to report to the Dean of Discipline I'd go to a nifty little secluded area below a stairwell at a side entrance and take a nap there until the bell rang. Never got caught.

For minor offenses, like lateness or something. I didn't really walk on the wild side as much as I would have liked to, but I hung around its fringes and had a poor attitude whenever I could muster up the nerve.

I'd get detention for cutting classes,then cut the detentions,which got me 1-3 day suspensions,which wiped the slate clean..... ......Rinse......Repeat...

Of course that was circa 1967-71.....I suspect much has changed since....

a few times in the 6th grade for fighting, and 5 times during my freshman year of HS.

three times during my freshman year I was very disrespectful to my English I teacher, and I got two detentions for fighting.

I also had in campus suspension for smoking in the restroom.

The plus side - detention was a good way to get some homework done.

16. No, but I was sent to the hall a few times

Every time I went to class with some jock's letter sweater on, crazy Miss Coyle sent me to stand in the hall for the duration of the class. She was a total whack-job and was finally replaced when the teacher in the classroom below asked to switch rooms because the crazy lady stomping her feet and throwing books on the floor was disrupting classes.
