I have the flu.

Fever, sore throat, headache, chills and my particular favorite: skin that is painful to the touch. Blech. I haven't had the flu in years and was hoping the flu shot I got in November would protect me again. Anybody else have the flu? If you did have it this season how long did aforementioned symptoms last?

But my throat is really hurting. 4 weeks was not what I wanted to hear! I hope you are feeling much better too.

In the last couple of days I've had a cough and my throat itches so bad I want to stick a wire brush down there to scratch it.

Edit: Most of the people I know who had the flu this year said the symptoms lasted about 3-4 weeks

Brew 1 cup of Earl Grey tea. Add to it 1 teaspoon of Honey, juice of 1 orange and ½ teaspoon of ground cloves.

I do hope it can help you as well.

Don't even hardly get sore throats since I quit smoking in 2003.

Also never had a flu shot. Damn gubmint ain't injecting ME with micro-transmitters! (lol, in case in I need to specify that for CT protection)

In the past 20 something years i haven't even been sick enough to throw up except twice - and one was from binge drinking and the other was too much ice cream and a lactaid pill.

Feeling very fatigued, nasty sore throat too but fever is down and headache is gone. I started getting the flu shot when hubby developed asthma. Sure hope I don't give him the flu.

Edited to say headache and fever are back.

Also, concord grape juice (not the concentrate) is reported to help get rid of a sore throat.

The gargle, several times a day, should really help.

my boss was absolutely down for a full week and probably sick for a total of two weeks.

i second the gargling with warm salt water for your sore throat, it's gross but it helps.

Don't know if it was the flu but we both had fevers which I don't normally get with a cold (although I know it's certainly possible). Also, this was the one year I didn't get the dang flu shot and here I am, sicker than I have been in many years. Could be a coincidence, but I think next year I'll be one of the first in line for the needle.

You didn't mention cough as one of your symptoms, but just in case you get to that stage, I have a cough remedy to share that seemed to help my spouse and me. You take a cup of pineapple juice and heat it up till it's very warm (I put it in the microwave for 2 minutes) and stir in a tablespoon or so of honey. Sip slowly over the course of the evening. Supposedly the heat and the honey release a substance in the pineapple called bromelain, which helps reduce inflammation in the lungs.

Hope you feel better soon Redwitch!

I haven't had it yet this time around and I refused a flu shot because the last time I got one I got the flu directly afterwards. Shouldn't your flu shot have lasted for at least four months? Get plenty of rest and I hope that you'll feel better soon...

Everyone I know that's had this one said they rushed taking care of themselves and relapsed----The flu shots seem to be 30% effective with this years flu .
allow about 3 weeks -I know who can afford 3 weeks but this one is nasty.
