is suicidal!

I don't live there, but do use it to get from 290 to 71 when I visit family out west of Austin. I know what that road is like during the best hours. Thankfully, I've never driven it during rush hour. Just have to put up with the 290/71 bottleneck later on...

Occasionally I ride from downtown to Mrs. gratuitous' office, out by the airport. It's about seven miles as the crow flies. I can make it there by bicycle in about 35-40 minutes, which is about as fast as a car can do it. I tend to avoid the main arterials, but on a bike, you go just as fast on a narrow side street with cars parked on both sides. I also don't have so many stop lights to wait for. Bicycling on a major highway is a cry for help.
