Yaay! I got a new jerb.... a REAL JOB!!!

Last edited Wed May 1, 2013, 02:51 PM - Edit history (1)

After being stuck in the occasional contract trap for awhile, I finally got a decent real job that has real potential for a future. I have to relocate to a different state, and it's going to be a bit tight for a month, but it will pay off. It's a network engineering position at a major telco. I which is pretty much where I've been wanting to be at for awhile. No more resetting passwords in AD or troubleshooting caching issues in outlook/exchange.. Yaaaaay!!!

Howdy octothorpe,
That must be very satisfying in this economy. Good luck with the move and the new job.

Peace

I am a contractor in IT hell as well. Hoping something will change before autumn but the latest jobs report and the sequester are making companies jittery, so I fear it won't.

I actually liked it at first, but constantly worrying about what's next gets old. I wish you luck in breaking out of it. What area of IT do you work in?

Right now i'm at month 7 of a 12 month contract. I wouldnt stay here if they did offer me permanent though, getting anything done at this enormous student loan servicing (ahem) company is like trying to turn the Titanic.

Two good things about contracting - you get to see what companies are like before being made a permanent offer, a luxury most candidates don't have ... and knowing - if it does suck - there's an end in sight.

Less worry about what situation I'll be in a month down the road. It's also a nice change of pace too, less IT support and more engineering-ish. It should keep me in a good mood for at least another few days.
