And this isn't even my most favorite of his songs...but he did it so well, and that saxophone player!

Thank you, my dear Lady Freedom Returns.

Just wonderful...

but if a mediocre artist is what you have in mind, listen to Scott Joplin. He is known as the "father of rag" for his piano music but he was also known for being frequently out-played by other pianist for the very songs that he wrote. In other words, other pianists frequently played his songs better than he could!

but then again, I've been in a serious gangsta-rap kick recently...

I could probably write an article about this, but as a white guy who grew up in a solidly middle-class family who attended in college I can actually find many things in common with gangster rap. The immediacy and violence of living day to day in a war zone that experienced when I was in Iraq is very similar to what I hear mentioned in various rap songs.

Phew, I just saved you guys from a crazy "cry for help" sort of post. I wrote like 10 or 11 disjointed paragraphs about the war and gangster rap, but figured it was better to delete that crap than to post it and scare you all. Be glad, very glad
