Working with my younger boss is going so far so good.

I started a new job in April after being unemployed for 2.5 years and learned to my chagrin that not only was my new boss is 9 years younger than myself, but my team leader is a full 15 years my junior. This was a new experience for me and I did not know what to expect in a work environment where most of my colleagues look too young to know who Kurt Cobain is, but there I was and I decided to give it my best shot. And I have to say at this point it's going very well. Both my boss and team leader have shown me nothing but their upmost respect. The team lead shows a lot of deference (maybe a little too much given I am so new and he is responsible for so much) and my boss treats me like a coequal on a social level and has given me a lot of leeway in terms of how I do my job, so long as it gets done. As I said, so far so good.

I recently went into a tech store (not Best Buy) on my lunch hour.

Was telling a sales clerk I was enjoying a lunch hour, window shopping. I swear I have AOL diskettes in my basement older than him.

I said that I started getting into computers when 300 baud was considered exciting.

I had to almost spell it out to him ... "300 baud ... MODEM".

When I was a computer operator in college I had an ASCII terminal and 300 baud modem in my room so I could login to work and monitor the batch running and start jobs. Oh, and the modem didn't dial - no AT commands (run that one by the kids these days - AT what?). I had to dial the remote modem with the phone, wait for the screeching noise and then flip a switch on my modem to get it to connect. Ahhh, the good old days.

I actually had to punch cards for my first class in programming FORTRAN. After you finished your stack you'd take a marker and run it across the top of the stack diagonally. That way when you dropped the stack of cards it would be easier to organize when you picked it up.

at least 20 years younger than I am. Although our boss is about my age. My last boss was 5 years younger than I was and I worked for him for 24+, we actually started the same day/year. Haven't had a problem with any of them.

My supervisor is about my son's age (late 20's). He's a good guy, real smart, lots of common sense.

My supervisor's boss, my manager, is 30, and in so far over his head that he doesn't know how far in he is.

My last two managers have been late 20's - early 30's.
