The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThis week's romantic EPIC FAIL.
The twist this time: I met her in person first. Facebook merely administered the coup de grace.
We had an action at the State Capitol in Sacratomato on Wednesday. One of the speakers was a single mom (we'll call her Suzi) who was passionately advocating for CalWORKS (please don't call it welfare; she's white ) and child care. Afterwards I went up to her and told her what a great speech it was. She replied with a great big hug! (She's a plump woman with long red hair and impossibly light blue eyes. ) We talked for a while, then it was time to go into the Capitol and talk turkey with the legislators. She gave me another great big hug (note to skinny worshippers: big women are MUCH softer) -- then planted a kiss right on my lips! I must sheepishly admit that that was my first kiss in several years not delivered by Mom.
Off to Facebook we go. Suzy Lastname. Suzy Lastname. No, not her, nothing... oh, wait, maybe it's Suzi with an 'i'. Suzi Lastname... There she is!
Status: Engaged. EPIC FAIL.

(8,217 posts)That really stinks.
Tell you what, with me, I sometimes take classes, particularly active ones such as yoga, dance(Brazilian) and some other martial arts. Many times I get to talking to someone, and I get in to the conversation, till I run out of time, forget to ask a name, much less a method of contact.
Which is just as well, more likely than not, I would make her in to a friend any how.

So, take heart! You're light-years ahead of some people.

(12,132 posts)from a plump, pretty redhead. That's a successful year in my book.
Chubby redheads are my kryptonite. That's why my wife always comes with me to the Highland games.
