But it would be really cool if someone came along and posted in one of my music threads, "OMG! That is totally fucking cool! I love it!"

The reason why I post threads like this sometimes is the thrill I get from turning on someone to something new.

It's Christian in the sense that he has a church choir doing backing vocals on most of that album. I guess you could say that the lyrics for a lot of it are Christian in the way that many Christians espouse love for human kind. But if there is any kind of spirituality to the album it's more of a generalized "we are all eternal" kind of thing, and not really a religious kind of thing. We're stardust, baby.

Devin Townsend got his start in the music biz as an extreme music/metal kind of guy. He later wanted to do something that was more flexible and experimental so he started his own band called the Devin Townsend Project. The latest album is EPICLOUD, and for that album he wanted to blend the sounds of a church choir with heavy music. He also wanted to make a heavy album with lyrics about love and devotion. Devin is a family man now and he says that this album just reflects where he is at better right now. So most of the album has a religious feel to it without really being religious. I think he is also trying push the envelope on what can be done with various styles and genres of music.

and sort of preachy undertones, ran a little long, the middle part drug for me but, overall I liked it. And you were right the visuals were really nice. Could have done without the infinity sign all the way throughout ... meh. I know ... picky. picky.

mornin' Tobin !!

I never really noticed the similarity to the infinity symbol until you pointed it out. I've heard him talk about his religious/spiritual background. His parents were hippies who were into New Age. He's never been a part of any organized religion.

Speaking of which, Jen's got me going to church now days. I'm not really into the whole religious thing. The people there are nice, though, and it's more of a social experience for me than it is anything else. They understand, for the most part, where I stand. I think Jen has told them I'm agnostic and I've talked to a few members there about my religious background. I enjoy the little social we have after the service much more than the service itself. There's food, too.
