June 9: National Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day

6. My MIL gave us her ladies art & garden club's cook book.

One dear woman provided this odd recipe. My husband knew this friend of his mom's; she was a woman of many talents, but it was known among her friends that her husband did the cooking.

Rhubarb dessert
• Place 4 cups uncooked rhubarb in bottom of dish.
• Put 1 cup sugar on top.
• Shake 1 package strawberry jello on this.
• Shake 1 package of 1-layer cake mix (white or yellow cake) on this.
• Pour 1 cup water into which 1 stick melted butter has been added over whole thing.
• Bake at 350º F for 45 minutes

I was telling someone about it and they recognized it as a "Dump Cake".

I looked it up, and the recipes vary slightly, but the recipes all say: "DO NOT MIX"- just put ingredients in order.
