It's just amazing how unusual it is for an author to do what he's doing. You need that many characters so people can survive all the mayhem.

I finished Dance with Dragons...
I don't care if he never releases the other books...
I'll just go with the HBO series.

That book with the afterword "A Feast of Crows" was the only book, that after I read it, I almost threw across the street.

It makes the stories that much more intriguing and (for lack of a better term), realistic.

In reality, the good guy doesn't always win, the prince doesn't always get the princess, and not all the nice people live happily every after.

In my opinion, it's somewhat refreshing to see good guys that aren't invincible.
