Having stooped to those levels to procure an apartment in Manhattan before, I'd hire that guy if his resume was good. I like the go-getter attitude.

Housing was at a premium, and the story goes a guy was walking along the bank of a river, when he noticed somebody struggling in the water and calling for help.

"What is your name, and where do you live?" the man asked.

The drowning man told him.

The first guy hurries to the stated address and tells the landlord: "Mr. X just drowned. I want to rent his room."

"Sorry", the landlord replies, "It was just rented by the guy who pushed him in."
