The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI watch on HGTV the Property Brothers, most of the couples really piss me off.
None of the couples can see how nice the 'house will after the work is done..
All they can say is " I can't see it".
All I want to do is kick them, and have them be happy to have a house.

I hate stainless steel appliances; they show fingerprints. Wouldn't have them if you gave them to me.

(18,705 posts)What is the thrill about granite countertops.
I have a old kitchen, old cabinets.
We never changed it when we moved in.
It is all good solid stuff.
The people on all these kind of shows amaze me.
Just be happy you have a home to live in.

(14,910 posts)I am going to try my hand at making our countertops with concrete and a polishing wheel.
Its really just some measurements, creating a form, and some elbow grease...
I've seen some absolute incredible concrete countertops in my research into the topic.

(21,020 posts)I actually saw some of them, the idea of concrete countertops just didn't seem appealing but they really are nice looking.

(34,111 posts)I had one once, it was not fancy but there are some amazing concrete countertops and other things these days.
I have two rooms with stained concrete floors, they are wonderful.
My countertops are soapstone now and I love it but I would kill for concrete. Take photos please!

(21,020 posts)those home selling shows, but, yeah...some of the buyers really piss me off.
Some of them think they have such "high standards", but IMO, they're just being massive assholes.
Back in 2010 we tried selling out home. I had forgotten what a pain in the ass it can be. Realtors tell you to get rid of half your furniture, take down family photos, and you basically have no life until your home sells because people lack the ability (or desire) to look beyond what's there.
And they want everything to be perfect.
In the meantime, we were looking at homes ourselves, and here's the thing I like about not being picky...no matter where we looked, the Mr and I were looking at these places with the mindset of personalizing, even if it meant making big changes. The only thing that mattered big time to me was location. Anything else is fixable.
PS...once the six month contract with the Realty company ran out, we gave up on the idea of selling. It was a crappy market anyway...

(12,296 posts)1. Americans who "want to live abroad" but insist whatever they find be remodeled to look the like inside of a McMansion. If you can't appreciate the architecture, culture AND FACILITIES of a particular place, stay home!
2. Why they don't ever do renovations that normal people can afford? I need my master bath remodeled in the worst way. But short of a lottery win, I'm not going to have a $30k budget to do it. More like $5k at most. Why aren't there shows doing commonsense middle class reno's for people like me? I have taste, too ya know!

truegrit44
(332 posts)brats! They have one stupid thing they might want which could be changed easily and the house is perfect except for the color of the cabinet in a bathroom so no go. The real estate agents probably have some real good stories to tell about these picky people. Now that I think of it a realtor could probably make more money writing a book with stories about buyers than their commissions.
I just wouldn't have the patience to deal with these folks........
