Two years before I was born, so I don't remember much of that year.

Although I do recall the Studebaker. The school nurse (K - grade 2) had one...sort of a very light olive green or gray color.

I love the old cars from that era...actually from the 50s to the mid 70s.

My favorite has always been the Cadillac with the huge tailfins.

My big memory of the 50's was starting kindergarten in 1959.

Also it snowed, a big deal for down here.

A lot of snow.

I guess it was time to relax for some people after the 30's and the war.

I am glad I missed it.

I was born in the last part of '49 but I don't remember 1950 at all. My first memories of my dad's 1948 Buick Roadmaster convertible date from when I was about two. It was black, with beautiful red leather seats. He won it in a poker game from an Air Force buddy.

Same color and everything. Ii was in primo condition when I graduated from high school in 1970. They bought it new, kept it in their garage and hardly ever drove it.

I didn't know there were colors.

All the pictures of my parents and grandparents were in black and white, so I just assumed life was in black and white.

Gonna get me a "momma" dog - 2 -3 year old German Shepherd shortly, - then cross breed her with a Collie after we get used to each other - probably about a year or so.

28 acres at the end of a dead end road, surrounded by thousands of acres of Crown land - they will have plenty of space to play.

I'll keep the puppies - and have a happy gang around me!

Haven't had a dog since I was a kid.

Gonna change that.

it is usual to dream in color, but about 20% dream black and white.

I dream in color

and unless you are under 12 years old, ya gotta know "life" is not black and white.

There's a lot of grey areas there . . .

37. Let's talk about the style of that car
Sun Jun 16, 2013, 09:20 AM

A couple of things stand out.

First, see how the design has the front protruding, sitcking out? Perhaps this is a way of conveying that this car represents progress, forward motion.

Second, look at the front headlights and the middle of the grill. They seem to protrude out further; they kind of look like weaponry, machine guns sticking out of a tank. Then look at the small windows. All of that metal with little windows gives this car a militaristic look.

I see this car as a window into the mindset of 1949-50: faith in progress and the military.
