Bought some Genoa salami yesterday. Couldn't find it last night. Looked everywhere, I thought, including in my car. Figured the bagger forget to pack it. Woke up in the middle of the night. What if? When I got up this morning I looked in the bread box. Sure enough, there it was underneath the corn tortillas. Nice and ripe.

Well if it is not too slimy ,you should be able to eat it .
There are generally enough preservatives in that kind of food to keep it "safe" for human consumption.
I know I have left cheese out for several hours and it never made me sick.
Who knows though.
Than again who knows what it will taste like after a few drinks?

(20,176 posts)the "sal" in "salami" is salt. It was used in medieval Italy to preserve meat at room temperatures for days or weeks. When I got to my authentic Italian and Kosher grocer here in DC, they're hanging from hooks over the cold-meats case.
Genoa salami, unless its low-quality and sliced, should be fine after 24-hours in the breadbox. There's one sitting on my counter right now, my Albanian roommate loves it...he gets up in the middle of the night, slices a hunk off and gnaws on it as he stumbles back to bed.

(322 posts)If it sours the liquor you will know to stop eating it.
Of course that depends I imagine on how many you and ITW drink tonight.
We have none of that type of salami here.
