I normally go for a good Italian red but I can't find them nearby. So, I'm learning to love the slightly sweet, frizzante Moscato.

... until I had some served as the dessert wine at a very very fine restaurant.

It was a superb many-coursed tasting meal and the wine very nearly beat
everything else in that extraordinary meal.

(38,000 posts)I worked in an Italian restaurant and we got instruction on Italian wines and had many tastings. I came to like the earthiness of Italian reds and never really cared for the whites, especially the dessert wines.
But, like I said, there's no Italians reds nearby. Chianti = pfft. I want a Barolo or at least, a Barbaresco. French reds just don't "do it" for me.
I know. It sounds so weird. All of a sudden I'm digging a white dessert wine. And a cheap one at that! Oak Leaf!
But, fuck it. I like it. It tastes smooth without being cloying. It's crisp but not a brain freeze like some white can be.
Here's to gettin' tipsy on discount Moscato!
