Almost 4 days till the Fourth of July and...

the one thing that I have noticed in my neighborhood, no fireworks have been going off. Not a single one. Traditionally at about a week and a half before this day you would hear the random piccolo petes and the heart stopping illegal M80's. For so far, and keeping my fingers cross, nothing. I did read that the Sacramento PD have confiscated about 140,000 pounds of illegal fireworks and for that I very happy. I wonder thought if it's the economy or that it's so fucking hot. What we don't need right now is a grass fire or fifty.

Stay safe y'all!

Usually it's fairly quiet here. Fireworks are illegal in Maryland.

But this year some assholes have been setting them off for the past week. Last night was pretty bad.

However, I enjoy fireworks. I Looooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvveeeeeeee the smell of gunpowder in the air on the 4th. I also enjoy the noise once a year. Kind of like how I hate snow, but enjoy it on Christmas Eve.

That's not surprising, since I don't live in town and setting off fireworks here is a fire hazard. Worse this year during this heat wave.

but it will change. One of the corgis is already freaked out by the daily thunderstorms. She is going to have a rough week. Right now there is nothing going on outside and she is hiding in the shower.

Previously only the ones that didn't explode or leave the ground were legal. Now many more are. People did it anyway. It started a week or so back, and will go about two more weeks.

I haven't heard any yet this year.

Where I live now, I'd get busted for sure if I used any of my old ones.

I am thankful for this, too. I have a 5 year old Golden Retriever; Cassidy who is terrified of fireworks.

So far, not a peep. Come the 4th, she will need Benadryl to make it through the holiday weekend.

Stay safe out there, folks...

National Holiday - most businesses will be closed, while we party.

The worst part is, all the beer and liquor stores will be closed.

Most, like me - plan ahead and stock up.

Those that don't watch the calendar

Be thirsty as hell Tuesday morning

And not just the "safe and sane" variety of fireworks.

I hear many dry ice plastic soda bottle bombs too. Dry ice is pretty easy to get. A lot of food is grown and packaged here.
