The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsToday is my 44th wedding anniversary.
I am sitting here alone, my husband went to the movie "The Lone Ranger". It was a mutual agreement as I cannot sit still long enough for a full length movie. And....Johnny Depp as Tonto? Nah.

Hit #1 the year you married.
GentryDixon
(2,955 posts)This is our marriage. I guess that is why we have lasted so long.
We were just talking yesterday about how Ed Sullivan was the one who always had the entertainment on. We were listening to Sirius Radio Elvis channel & Ed introduced one of his early hits.

(2,955 posts)The good news is he is stopping by the liquor store on his way to get me some wine. Here in Utah, you cannot buy it anywhere but a state sanctioned store. The one in town closes at 7:00, and is closed tomorrow. If you forget your booze in this state on a holiday, you are out of luck.

And much cheaper.

(19,378 posts)You two are lucky, I couldn't even stand myself after 44 years!
All kidding aside, that is a beautiful thing. Many more happy years to you both!

(54,256 posts)I'm curious about not being able to sit still for a full length movie.
None of my business though.
I think Depp will be a hoot as Tonto.
We're seeing it Friday.
GentryDixon
(2,955 posts)I guess I am not a real Johnny Depp fan. Enjoy the movie.

(24,146 posts)i also have problems sitting through full length movies, but i can manage it once in a while.
GentryDixon
(2,955 posts)Not too often, but I did go a few months ago. Can't remember what I saw, but I did make it through the entire movie. I do remember the one before that was "Gran Torino" with Clint Eastwood in 2008.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)and jurassic park 3D maybe a month before that (it was so disappointing). i can manage it four, maybe five times a year.
trof
(54,256 posts)Now I'm doubly curious.
My only problem with sitting through an entire movie is an enlarged prostate.
I know, TMI.
Sorry.
GentryDixon
(2,955 posts)If they would just have intermissions like the plays I go to.

My best friends, who have been together for almost 50 years, take separate holidays.
Usually 2 1 week holidays each year.
"space" - we all need it - even from our most beloved.
We are all individuals, regardless of our relationships.
So - ya wanna keep someone, ya gotta let them be them.
Looks like you know that . .
And remember - being alone doesn't have to mean being lonely.
Ya know he's coming home!
Happy 44th!

(2,955 posts)I am very accustomed to staying by myself, and am happy to do so.
We have a home in North Carolina where he spends months at a time. His parents are still alive. We bought 4 acres next to his folks so he would have a place to stay. I don't begrudge the time he is there. He left NC when he was drafted in 1966, so it makes it nice for him to be able to be with his family. They all live within 10 miles of each other, something I can't say. My sisters are scattered from Utah to Washington state.
Your place sounds grand. I love reading your posts.

It will get much better, and I ain't gonna be shy to share.
Saw my groundhog scooting around a few times today - talked gently at it - seems to be not so much afraid of me anymore.
I see many robins around my yard ( I spend about 4 hours to cut an acre) - I gots birdies pickin the worms out - RIGHT OUTSIDE MY FRONT WINDOW.
yep
My place is GREAT!!
