If Homeland Security can't keep out some of the stuff I'm seeing and hearing, what use are they?

1. My neighborhood sounds like someone's blowing up buildings. Shit and it's 12.45 AM

3. We've got people lighting off stuff bigger than I've seen at professional shows.

Much, much bigger than Disneyland, especially some of the window rattling car alarm setting off bangs. I think I can hear a dozen car alarms and sirens as background to the cacophony. I'm glad our house has a tile roof. You can smell the gunpowder.

My wife gave our dogs meds and they are still upset. It's crazy in every direction, all around. I was just out in front and one of our neighbor's little kids started crying and they took him inside.

I wouldn't even know where to get "pro" sized fireworks and I lost interest in making those sorts of loud noises a long time ago.

2. Sounds like a bad Twilight episode

The details of "Operation Independence" are top secret and that's the way it should be. Only  they need to know what the game plan is, like how many officers are here and how they'll respond to a real threat.

The enemy knows too much already.

What we need to know, or rather be reminded of, is that the threats, homegrown and imported, are all too real.  And in one way, we're all undercover agents who need to be aware of our surroundings.

... but the fire department is out and about.
