I used to ENCOURAGE folks like that, strongly and often, to put me on ignore.
That way, they wouldn't get so annoyed AND they wouldn't try so hard to
stifle my freedom of expression. Win-win.

And then my content is going to piss off some people -- not so much groups
as individuals. Perhaps they tried alerting to no avail and chose Ignore as a
much healthier option than getting so angry at me.

I think I've had fewer than a dozen posts hidden in four years -- and YOU
know what it is I do. Lately, 203 days since a hidden post with almost
1500 posts in that time.

Though one got me tombstoned (PPR'd) almost immediately for being
insensitive and EXTREMELY "homophobic"... until I could explain and
apologize.

Ironically, I learned this late Spring or Summer (I think) that, on his
Facebook page, the noted homophobe George Takei used the exact
same picture in the exact same context a whole year later.

You might be surprised to know that I've only seen ONE individual that even
approached my number (though there may be many who just don't publish
their number -- perhaps in embarrassment and/or shame as opposed to the
humility that helps keep me from bragging about mine)... and that person is
a REAL lightning rod for anger and frustration -- not, as I've seen... for
sufficient reasons (at least not what I would consider using Ignore for).

I normally use would kinda accentuate their pettiness by using GROSS
exaggeration -- a hundred or more vertical dots to "make their point
(count mine -- except in very rare cases for tension build-up effect).
All they did with THAT tactic was to prove that they actually KNEW
that they were being petty about my mere, yet horrible 30 dots.

I counted about 160-170 in yours. You were being a little harsh on
them. I don't think remember ANY of them being THAT childish.

I used to STRONGLY encourage them to put me on Ignore and I think
my high Ignore number is a reflection of that. I actually respect them
for doing that... though I honestly don't understand it.

Some of them kept at it for the LONGEST time... though they eventually
gave up. I bet some of THOSE folks finally put me on Ignore... but I bet
more than a few are still out there -- inconvenienced, aggravated, even
DANGEROUSLY stressed out by my 30-dot-posts, but embarrassingly

If so, Nyah, Nyah! Lol! We have had some AMAZING results. Been a crazy year - even came up with a "new" theory explaining possible cause, prevention and treatment of certain childhood neuromuscular disorders (including some firms of cerebral palsy). There is going to have to be a TON more research of course, but for the children it is helping, it has been like a miracle.

I also got a bunch of ignores on a "death penalty for rapists" thread - that was an interesting one!

When folks are accusing you of lying and you aren't - well, it was kind of crazy. I even ended up with a personal stalker - she was fun, and on a positive note, I learned a lot from her. When the whole thing started, I didn't know the difference between hyperspasticity and hypotonia! DU helped bring me up to speed pretty quickly (even if some of the people were rude, obnoxious, offensive and condescending - lol! - got to love a message board).

Since we all know that many log out to see what those they are "ignoring" are actually saying, I propose we start a threads and reveal who is on our ignore lists. I'm betting that many of us would find...

a) we still have people on ignore from the days of "Meta"
b) we put people on ignore over something said in one particular thread that set us off, and we can't remember which thread that was
c) we put people on hold because they are flaming douchebags (hey -- there are a few)
d) we put people on hold over an irrational dislike of blue dogs (just sayin')
