http://vimeo.com/13394773Several weeks after seven puppies were rescued from the woods, Karma Rescue returns to catch their feral parents.
The dogs were completely unapproachable, running away at the first sight of humans. Karma Rescue borrowed a trap and returned to the golf course each morning to see if the parents took the bait.
Watch the true nature of Pit Bulls unfold as they come into contact with humans for the fist time in almost 2 years.
Dogs are wonderful people.

(12,272 posts)The video must have strained my eyes, they teared up around the time Wild Horses started playing. Chester is a tough guy with a soft heart. I think the female decided that her pups and mate were gone, so she went into the trap to follow them.

(102,291 posts)(or arguably dogs, in general). Not all animal control, certainly, but enough to cause problems. THank heavens a pitbull-familiar and loving rescue group came to these dogs aid. They really are wonderful dogs in the absence of some very nasty-assed human intervention.

(1,734 posts)Awesome video. As an owner of another completely misunderstood breed (Siberian Husky), I love videos that counteract the anti-pitbull hysteria.

(4,788 posts)We lost our Siberian a few months ago and hope to replace him soon. We dearly miss his noise.
My wife and I have lost two since we've been together. It's horrible.
On the other hand, our "old man" Denali is sitting on the couch next to me right now. He'll be 13 in a few months, and he can still do miles in the snow.

(193 posts)It's amazing.
The local animal shelter has nearly only Pit Bulls on its dog-killing row. That's a damn shame.

(8,492 posts)I haven't cried that hard in awhile. I think it's good for my soul.
I've had four pitties and have never felt as much love from any other breed. I'm on my way to send a donation and to share this on FB.

(30,947 posts)and none of them were aggressive. I now have a Chihuahua that is meaner than any of the bully breeds.

(30,250 posts)My mother rescued from a park a pregnant pit bull years ago. She was a sweetie. We also had later on a Chihuahua, she was something else. They have big hearts and are fearless. LOL!!!

(23,272 posts)During the rescue and getting home part, you can see the dogs' nails are really short. I clip my dogs' nails every other week and they are longer than those pit bulls that haven't had human intervention for years....
Just a small niggle.... carry on.
idiotgardener
(509 posts)They stay naturally short. Not sure if they just don't grow much or if he wears them down with all the walking.
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)They are out as much as they like but of course its all turf so they never encounter asphalt or concrete walkways... their nails are always long. I can't clip them any shorter or I draw blood with the quick so long. Its like they've adapted to always running on "turf" and need their claws to dig into the earth....
(ah rider philosophizes late night with a glass of wine....)

(6,011 posts)Our neighbor, who at the time was a veterinary student, had a border collie and told us that her toenails were kept "filed'' by having her chase a ball or stick in the alley once or twice a week. I did the same with our dog until two more neighbors, whose property borders on the alley, got barking dogs. Now if I play with Sally out there a big bark fest happens.

(2,441 posts)I contributed what I could. I appreciate when folks take in what other folks term "unadoptable" dogs. Best dogs I've ever known have been pitties and other so-called "bully" dogs. "Bully" - bulls&*t. They've been some of the softest, kindest dogs I've ever known, and I've been around dogs for 45 years.
Good luck to these pups.
