Saw Bob Dylan, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, and Richard Thompson last night

at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Here are the set lists for Dylan and My Morning Jacket. I'm not sure if set lists for Thompson and Wilco have been posted yet.

Bob Dylan and His Band

Things Have Changed
Love Sick
High Water (For Charley Patton)
Soon after Midnight
Early Roman Kings
Tangled Up in Blue
Duquesne Whistle
She Belongs to Me
Beyond Here Lies Nothin'
A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
Blind Willie McTell
Simple Twist of Fate
Summer Days
All Along the Watchtower
Encore:
Ballad of a Thin Man

My Morning Jacket

Circuital
It Beats 4 U
X-Mas Curtain
Master Plan
Wonderful (The Way I Feel)
Steam Engine
Isn't It a Pity
(George Harrison cover) (with Wilco)
Wordless Chorus
Victory Dance
Gideon

It was one of the few shows I've gone to where I didn't know much about who was playing. My wife is a big Bob Dylan fan so I've heard some of his stuff, but from the other three bands I'd only heard one song by My Morning Jacket and that was it. However, it was probably the best show I've ever been to. If you are into jam bands, you'll really get into this show. My wife and I were listening to some studio recordings from Wilco and My Morning Jacket today, and while those are good they don't match what those guys can do live.

I'm glad you and Jen are getting out to hear these bands, and having some good times!

There is nothing quite as exciting as live music...

No matter what kind you're listening to.

Glad you had a good time. I know he's an icon, but I couldn't even recognize one Dylan song.

that I'm not really a big fan, although I appreciate what he has done and the genius in his song writing ability. The way I see it, the guy is 72 and a living legend. Any good chance I have of seeing him perform live is worth it. This is the second time I've seen him and he seems to bring some very good bands along with him on tour, so that's extra incentive to see him live.

...one of my current favorite songs is "Good Things Happen To Bad People" from his new album.

I also saw a clip from this tour (July 3rd) of Wilco & MMJ performing a version of "Cinnamon Girl" that was EXTREMELY faithful to the N.Y. original:

Richard Thompson came out first with his guys and he came out 15 minutes early. Most of the crowd still wasn't there. I would have been pissed if I was Thompson. Being the first act of four bands he probably wasn't going to play to the entire crowd anyway, but I would have wanted that other 15 minutes to get as many people in there as possible. Thompson played your favorite song by him.

Thompson did get some vindication, though. Wilco played third after My Morning Jacket and they brought Thompson out to play and sing on a couple of tunes to the full audience.

On the "Isn't it a Pity" cover of George Harrison by My Morning Jacket, Wilco came out and played with them on it turning it into about an 8 minute jam. It was very touching.

... was a punk band whose singer performed naked except for a clear plastic raincoat
with a pack of Marlboros in one pocket. We would play three sets -- the first set
there might be (no shit) 5-10 people there, but by the third set, it was wall-to-wall
people with maybe 100-150 people.
.
The band had 7, sometimes 8 people in it and I had a great line for those kind of first
set "crowds".

"The band LOVES playing to an audience this small because, if you get ugly... we can
kick your ass".

Good times.

I also would have LOVED to see Richard Thompson. I'm glad that you and Jen got there
in time to see him.

like Richard Thompson quite well, have no real clue who the others are (though I know the name wilco and probably know a few songs from the radio)

glad you had a good time!

Todd Rundgren just played in Tucson, I would have liked to have seen him again. Speaking of influential genius giants.
