Yesterday, I awoke to find over two feet of snow in my driveway. I made it to the end of the driveway to get the garbage cans in. Then I tried to get out to the road to pick up the mail. Now the road was down to bare wet pavement, shoulder to shoulder. I almost didn't get there. The snow was up over my hips and I kept sinking in. I had to sort of body surf to make it through.
So, last evening the plow service got here. I thought I was all set for various errands today. I went out the door, keys in hand, to find a snow bank, 4 foot high and 6 foot wide left across the front of the garage door.
It's going to be in the 40's this afternoon.
As I said, ludicrous weather!

(36,286 posts)Houston about how warm the weather is there - generally right after a big snowfall here! We've got plenty of moisture, but the off-set is that we get a lot of gray days from October to March. I don't notice it, but my daughter down at school in Syracuse says it really gets to the students from other places.

(6,581 posts)Except very little snow.
Apparently, we can only get snow in one inch increments, which all melt within a day or two. Not that this hurts my feelings, haven't had to plow my driveways at all, just shoveled for about 2 minutes a couple of times.
Last week, it was close to 50 on Friday, Sat it cooled down to around 32-33 and we had an inch of snow. Sunday was colder, about 28, with an inch of snow. Yesterday, it was just mostly grey and about 32. Woke up this morning to blue skies and 43, going to 55 this afternoon. The two inches of snow on the ground will be all gone by this afternoon.
Highs all week going to be close to 40 on the coldest days.
Non-winter.

(36,286 posts)dribs and drabs, I guess (except for the other night!) I think this is going to be the pattern more and more - rainy winters with spectacular snow dumps when conditions are just right. I'm worried about ice storms this Spring. Our snow is just silly, but ice takes down trees and power lines!
