Almost too astonishing to be believed. Even if the husband were a jerk, what adult woman acts like this?

(68,644 posts)Fuck him.
How you don't see it is disturbing.
The fact that he can laugh, can film her, then post it, is or should be criminal.
It's fucking abuse. Plain and simple.
Not funny.

Codependent and permanently miserable, they live for the drama.
That, or he's just the biggest ass in the county!

(31,515 posts)some pretty extreme behavior, and that may be what we are seeing here. Maybe she's nuts, maybe he knows how to push her buttons. I'd be willing to be that there's more to this story that we can see from a you tube clip.

(3,724 posts)While her behavior is extreme, I think this is typical of the dynamic in their relationship. He's a dick, she responds, lather rinse repeat. I had a husband once who was a bit like this, and while I never quite lost my shit the way this woman did, he knew how to play me. We are divorced.

(4,475 posts)Her behavior is pretty bad, but he also seems very manipulative, like he's deliberately egging her on. I strongly suspect this is a primary dynamic in their marriage - he taunts and patronizes her, she throws a fit, he taunts and patronizes some more, she throws a bigger fit, she gets to be as out of control as she likes and then he gets to think of himself as the more "mature" person, and the cycle goes on and on. I'm sure it would be just super fun to live with or be friends with either one of these asshats. I think both these people need help, or a divorce, or both.

(21,020 posts)the same type of "egging on".
And every time I've allowed myself to get sucked in, I've kicked myself for letting it happen.
Emotionally mature people don't allow others...no matter how manipulative...to suck them into the crazy.
Honestly, I didn't hear anything terribly outrageous from him that would justify her infantile behavior. Not that anything would justify it. She's not two years old. She's not someone with a developmental disorder who can't verbalize.
Ugh. Utterly embarrassing. I was going to say her parents would probably be embarrassed as well, but I have a suspicion that she learned to act that way from her parents who likely gave in every time she had a tantrum.

(20,277 posts)Good grief, even when my sons were 2 they never acted like that. He should not have posted this, but I don't think they were going to drain the lake.
They should get divorced.

(23,272 posts)What a hideous dynamic.
Its grotesque he chose to post this rather than looking at it as a serious alarm bell for both of them jangling loudly "GO TO COUNSELING!"

(21,020 posts)I have a feeling she's been doing this type of thing from childhood on and doesn't see anything wrong with it and that the problem is all him and what he "won't let her do".
Also, I don't think he's a "dick pushing her over the brink". If she were two years old, then his teasing attitude would suck, because you don't tease little kids like that.
But she's not two years old.
I just wonder if she ever acted like that before they got married, and if she did, that should have been a huge red flag for him to drop her like a hot potato.
Populist_Prole
(5,364 posts)But that doesn't mean he's taunting or egging her on, it means she is not in full control of her faculties. It's a similar dynamic when trying to reason with an an indignant drunk.

(30,994 posts)tons of people come through the ER. I am utterly amazed sometimes at how couples or families talk and interact with each other. I am not saying he is not egging her on but I have seen grown ups, usually women, act like this. Little spoiled princesses. Usually their ailments are minor and the husbands/boyfriends either cater to their whining or they are indifferent and sometimes embarrassed. The dynamic is something to behold. Yet my older generation patients come through, with their broken hips, broken elbows, etc and are such stoics. Dignified. My generation needs to take a few notes and get some perspective. I mean she can't even get her oil changed by herself. WTF?
