(46,179 posts)I'm not that hungry, and I don't need to add more heat to the heat.
So, an avocado sandwich:
Sprouted grain bread, thick with fresh avocado, salt and pepper, red onion, tomato, swiss cheese, and sprouts.
A half of an ice cold refrigerator melon.
Sweet, clean, fresh ice water drawn from my deep well.
It was great.
I'll cook brunch in a few minutes, since it's not that hot yet.
A fresh spinach omelette.

question everything
(47,470 posts)I would never even try it. I purchase the "bake at home" petite baguette and freeze them, then defrost and bake. Use for shrimp p'boy without all the extra fat and thick batter.
And recently, just put mayo, romaine salad and cooked shrimp - frozen, defrost by running under water for five minutes.
Light and tasty for the summer.

(857 posts)years ago and I don't think they sell them anymore. Baporama is the name and they're made for doing baguettes at home. They have three water reservoirs, a perforated insert the dough sits on, and a domed lid. Make that crunch crust that's so good.

question everything
(47,470 posts)I found it a couple of weeks ago and, as it happened, had all the ingredients at home (except celery, which did not matter). I also used just a romaine mix in the fridge and had cooked frozen shrimp that I thawed for 5 min under running water.
I did not realize, until I assembled everything, that it called to roast the chickpeas (garbanzo beans) for 30 min in the oven! I just sauteed them in 1 T olive oil for 5 min.
Was wonderful.
