(66,099 posts)Never a fan. Never thought she was all that lovely.
Among her contemporaries, Paulette Goddard was my favorite, and truly beautiful...

(6,996 posts)After having been made to be in these awful 'B' movies
for years, Lucille Ball ended up owning the whole studio

(101,730 posts)they really play quite differently in today's age and time. Of note was an episode I saw recently where she and Ethel dig up (steal) John Wayne's concrete feet/hand imprints from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, yet the thought or the illegality of that is never even raised.
Many of her antics would clearly have earned her a long prison term with no smiles or laughter, which makes me wonder if there was a more permissive (less authoritarian) environ at the time that allowed for this humor to work...

Recognized her right off.
She played a dummy sort of, but she was no dummy really.
"I Love Lucy" is well imprinted in my ole brain.
Not too many episodes I never saw.
Great actress.
