(6,581 posts)I hate that. Fortunately, many, but not all, things can now be done online. Which helps a lot.

(24,146 posts)it's a new-to-us vehicle, so i had to transfer title and get the temp tags. then had to run around to get the truck emissioned and the vin verified. probably two and a half hours of my life gone to getting this truck taken care of. i shouldn't complain, tho, since my in-laws gave us not only the truck, but the money to get it all squared away.
i'll have to go back soon to get the permanent plates and renew the registration on one of our other cars, i'm going to get there earlier next time.

(30,947 posts)There are all kinds of ID you must have including a birth certificate, which I cannot locate. And of course, there will be at least an hour's wait.

(14,400 posts)When we first moved to CT we were stuck in the Waterbury DMV for over 2 and a half hours trying to get our car transferred to CT.
Fortunately you can now take care of most things at a Triple A outlet so I haven't had to redo that trip.
fortunately, my trip didn't take that long but i have to make another trip in the next few weeks. i'm going to get there earlier and hope that it's not as busy. i thought a wednesday morning at the start of the month wouldn't be that bad. boy, was i wrong on that count.

(6,261 posts)They've closed all the small offices around here to make sure everyone has to go to the big ones. It took more than 2.5 hours last time, in what felt like a giant refuge centre.
Hopefully I can renew online again next time, then I won't have to go in person for another 10 years.
