One thing I've learned about sales is that when people are convinced that the thing they are doing for free is "good enough," you just have to move on.
Poorly lit, poorly composed, bad color, bad lighting, and that thing on the bottom is supposed to be shrimp salad.
I offered my services to the owner and he said "I don't think I'd be interested in that."

(5,317 posts)They would discourage me from buying. I think the owner would be better off losing the pictures and just going with a description of the dishes if he doesn't want to spend the money to get it done right.

(30,885 posts)...I think it's "copycat posting." This particular restaurant has NEVER posted a food photo. I've been getting a reputation. I do believe they saw my stuff (it's a SMALL town) and thought "We can do that."
Actually, they CAN'T.

(8,492 posts)...they're out of focus and dark because the food actually looks worse and the photographer was doing the guy a favor.

(18,312 posts)Holy shit that's some anemic looking lettuce. Add the anemic cukes and whatever the fuck creamy shit is in the last picture and, well, let's give that salad a hefty bag of Packed Red Blood cells

(4,243 posts)they made me want to run out to that restaurant if I lived close by. That was some yummy looking food. These pictures make me want to stay home with a bowl of oatmeal.

(38,187 posts)The photos are bad (even there's the ability to take great food pictures with a cell-phone,) but if it's free and done by a friend, there's no business to do, no matter what. Besides, where are the shrimps?
Here's a quick shot of a pretty simple dish I've done with an iPhone. Not staged at all, lit by what's available, absolutely nothing fancy (just a Hipstamatic shot,) and at least you can see some shrimps:
You can't win this.
