Once, when we were about 12 or 13, my friend Ricky's mom dropped us off
at one to go see "Old Yeller". We waited 'til she turned the corner and ran
around the OTHER corner and went in to see "The Graduate" (age-specific
PG, R and X ratings weren't in place quite yet, though the Catholics DID have
"YOU'LL GO TO HELL FOR SEEING THIS" ratings in effect -- at least that's
the message we kids got -- we risked HELL for "The Graduate" .

When I got home, I went straight to my bedroom. MiddleFingerMomMom
called after me up the stairs, "How was the movie?"

"It was about some dog. It was sad. Goodnight."

I saw "Old Yeller" for the very first time about 25 years later.

And I STILL have a thing for Anne Bancroft (DANG, YOU MEL BROOKS!!! DANG
YOU ALL TO HECK!!!)
