I couldn't bring into focus anything within 2 feet. Since then I've wondered about why this would happen so suddenly. I even googled information on what can cause such a sudden change.
Maybe a change in the internal pressure of the eye from my diabetes? I have had that diabetes thing mostly controlled by weight loss diet and haven't even needed oral medication.
But, um, no. It was much simpler. And it was much more about being slow to pick up on reality...
In cleaning up the nightstand, my spare pair of glasses (only for nearsightedness) got set into the position reserved for overnite parking of my line free bifocals.
It only took two days to wake up and fumble around for glasses to have my hand fall onto both pairs and finally get the bifocals back on my face.
The frames are identical and I'm so near-sighted that in the morning I depend upon touch to even find a pair of glasses.

(41,915 posts)I cannot figure out what the hell is going on with my eyes. I've worn glasses forever, contacts for years. Now my eyes are getting too dry for the contacts not to irritate the hell out of them but my vision with and without the glasses seems to change from day to day. I think I can see distances better than I once did, but can't wear the progressive focals for up close so have them on top of my head half the time and then just forget the damn things altogether...oh well. So far no cataracts or macular degeneration, thank heaven!

(16,245 posts)I have progressive lenses. I knew when I took the eye test for my driver's license a year ago, I needed something. I just didn't know how bad it was.
