I've been using Equal for years.Mostly in my coffee and my oatmeal. I know there are so many sweeteners out there that are bad for you. How bad is Equal? Is Splenda the best/healthiest sweetener out there? Trying to cut back and would like to switch to something a bit more healthy.

(51,122 posts)So far, there are none for Splenda.
I prefer Splenda, because it tastes more like sugar, and doesn't have that chemical aftertaste that Equal does.
My wife uses Stevia. Which is supposed to be the most natural, but I don't like the taste.

(5,062 posts)Thanks! I'll have to try them both. I am trying to get away from Equal because I thought I heard somewhere recently that Equal was not as bad as Sweet N' Low but still not very good for you. I could be wrong. Trying to use less and less sugar these days,so Splenda is probably a better choice for me anyway. Thanks again!

(22,755 posts)all are... I only use limited amounts of xylitol as a sweetener (well maple syrup on my waffles)
xylitol is low glycemic and about as close in taste to sugar as they come

(30,947 posts)There has been no sugar in my house for years. As far as I am concerned, it is poison.

(5,062 posts)I though Equal was bad, just not as bad a Sweet n'low. Thanks. Yes,I am trying to find a decent sugar substitute. For my oatmeal I'm using honey or ground cinnamon. Not sure what I can use for my coffee.I'll probably try Splenda.

(145 posts)Stevia. It can be sweeter than sugar, so adjust for taste. Be sure to use the real thing and not Truvia or others that may have harmful additives. When I don't have stevia handy, I just use sugar since it is better than eating chemicals.

(41,694 posts)As a diabetic, I can't have the sugar and I can't stand the aftertaste of all the artificial sweeteners so I just as soon have no sweetener than the fake ones.
