The other day I posted a photo of an odd deer crossing sign on one of my walks:

Well today I walked along the same section of road and what do I happen to see out of the corner of my eye?
North Vancouver is up against the mountains so there's opportunity for deer but we are also only 10 - 15 mins from downtown, across the bridge, so it's been a very long time since I've actually seen deer here. This was definitely the highlight of today's walk though!

(19,372 posts)I'm using an ancient Nikon D40X, but I've got a pretty nice lens on it, an AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8 zoom.

(7,720 posts)I'm just using the cheap push and shoot digital camera. I still have not gotten into the digital SLR. I need to make the move soon.

(205,248 posts)I live in NE NY and occasionally see deer when I'm driving home at night - once even saw one as I turned onto my street - and I worry about them crossing the roads at night.

(6,154 posts)We live on the slopes of the mountains so I suspect the deer population in and around North Van is larger than I thought, but I live in a much more populated area so we hardly ever see them right around here.

(205,248 posts)One night I had just stopped at a convenience store/gas station not far from home when I saw an animal about to cross the road, was afraid it was a lost dog, so I slowed down and stopped. Turned out it was a small deer crossing what's a fairly well traveled road to the woods on the other side. I sat there, not moving, till I was sure he was safely in the woods, but I couldn't stop thinking about him.
Love your pix and this one is just spectacular!
