(34,120 posts)He'd set the length he wanted to accomplish each year and take enough time to do it. Since we live in Florida, he trained by climbing the steps in the state capital every day - it's the tallest building in town.
I'm not sure how many years it took him but when he had finished, he went back to climb the stairs again - and the capital police had put up a banner in the stair well congratulating him. He was in his late 70s when he completed the entire trail.

(34,120 posts)But now dementia has caught him and he isn't able to hike like he used to. I used to see him walking down the road with his dog regularly but haven't for over a year. He told me the last time that they'd taken his car away from him and his wife was worried about him hiking alone.

(56,912 posts)I hope that where ever he is, his dog is right there with him. I wish him and his wife well. Dementia is so hard on the spouse.

(29,047 posts)The physical union between the two ironmen could be viewed as romantic, I guess, but their love seemed to be directed at destroying the world by turning it into rust.
The event that brought the two men together was sexual. The couple hit the first ironman with their car, and then fucked right in front of him, as opposed to helping him, but I don't know if the union at the end of the movie was meant to be taken as romantic or not. Their motivation seemed beyond basic human needs at that point, but the scene can easily be interpreted as homoerotic, in my opinion.

(13,324 posts)coming to terms with his homosexuality. I don't know if I'd entirely agree with that take, but it is intriguing.

(12,132 posts)I can get it hand sewn for about 450 bucks. The lady comes highly recommended but there's about a 3 month wait time from when I place the order...I need it before our next Highland Games in January so I got about a month and half to get in some overtime...

I actually learned how to play on a '62 that belonged to my neighbor who bought it brand new while in college for $300. Begged him to sell it to me, but he wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons. Couldn't argue with that.
