(54,256 posts)Back when I was flying cargo planes I carried a pair of nylon 'jogging pants' (?).
You know, elastic waist, zippers at the ankles?
And a T shirt and a pair of heavy wool socks in my nav kit.
That black leather rectangular bag pilots used to haul around.
Soon after take off I'd turn the plane over to the other two guys (it was ALL 'guys' back then), go back and shed my uniform and shoes.
Don the aforementioned outfit, and return to the cockpit.
There were no passengers to impress.
COMFORT was the rule of the day.
Especially on an 8 hour flight from JFK to Anchorage that departed at 1 a.m.
Most of the other guys did the same.

Actually, those look like "television address to the nation" clothes -- dressed up
in only the visible places.
