Had a bit of an angry blowout with my parents tonight and said I wasn't going on my camping trip I had planned. They support me going on it but are understandably a little nervous about me doing something this new and out of the norm for me. New to driving never been away from my parents for more than a week etc. So they have voiced concerns over the last few weeks, nothing serious. But I easily internalize those concerns and make them my own (one of my issues), add this to general conflicts between us and things got a bit overheated I guess. But now that I've calmed down a bit I think I WILL be setting out tomorrow on the trip. See you guys in a weeks if so. If not, well, sooner then LOL

(130,905 posts)Only thing keeping me from heading to my cottage is daughter was bitten by black flies (and sand fleas???) at 'my' beach and weather's pretty bad, so hanging there NOT the thing to do at the moment, but sure looking forward to THAT adventure, and will look forward to hearing about yours!

The peace and experience of being totally on your own will amaze you.
Bug dope, first aid kit are a must -
diet-wise, take more canned food than you think you will need, and a can-opener!
Better to have more than you need, than to run short
ENJOY! - I'm looking forward to your adventure out into the World.
(naww - flying to Europe ain't the same at all)

(6,581 posts)You need to do this, you know you need to break away and start being you own man.
And, you know you can do it. Have a great time.

(2,560 posts)you're camping!!
Get up at the crack of noon (thank you, Mr Waits) or at 6 am. Your choice.
Have breakfast at any time of the day - remember, it's always 7:30 am somewhere in the world.
Spend time with people when you feel up to it, but don't be afraid to wander off to be by yourself (bears permitting).
But, most of all, this is YOUR trip. You'll almost certainly meet dickheads. Just leave, excusing yourself if necessary. You'll also meet some wonderful people. Make some new friends.
Have a great trip, Locut0s.
