An average day sees 10 fatalities in the train system. One strategy they have for dealing with this is a proposed program to require a train to stop if anyone is riding on the roof. It's meeting a lot of pushback, though.
Each train has a ladies' car and a first class car. The first class ticket is 45 rupees, or about 75 cents. This is more than about 2/3rds of the city's population earns in a day.
