I'd often wear a v neck tshirt and fedora to the local bistro where I'd twirl my handlebar mustache and sip a can of PBR while smothering everything I ordered in Sriracha.
Seriously, I love this stuff

I had the flannel tied around the waist, dark shirt... Long hair...
Unfortunately, mine is wavy, so I ended up just looking dirty.

(54,256 posts)"By 2003, when The Hipster Handbook was published by Williamsburg resident Robert Lanham, the term had come into widespread use in relation to Williamsburg and similar neighborhoods.
The Hipster Handbook described hipsters as young people with "mop-top haircuts, swinging retro pocketbooks, talking on cell phones, smoking European cigarettes... strutting in platform shoes with a biography of Che Guevara sticking out of their bags".[12]
Lanham further describes hipsters thus: "You graduated from a liberal arts school whose football team hasn't won a game since the Reagan administration" and "you have one Republican friend who you always describe as being your 'one Republican friend.'"[5] One author dates the initial phase of the revival of the term from 1999 to 2003.[13]

(17,184 posts)... "hipsters" are 21st-century under-thirties who don't have enough imagination to think up an original name for their clique.

(13,919 posts)Nasty stuff
I was out yesterday. We are in the middle of a heatish wave. a lot of warm, very little of our usual rain.
There was a young woman walking down the sidewalk. Sumerish dress, straps, could see the shoulderblades and knees kinda deal. Reasonable for a young woman on a hot day walking down the street.
And a hood. Imagine if someone took a heavy coat, the kind with a fur lined hood. Then cut off the coat. Just the hood. With a fringe of "fur".
I fear for what is to come.
Though I also saw another young woman on a different street a few weeks ago, walking with a young man. Wearing what appeared to be full Islamic head covering, the type where you can only see the eyes. And a miniskirt.
The world is a strange place.
