Anybody have experience with medical alert devices?

I got my mother the Great Call device, which I'd decided after considerable research was the best one out there (considering service, price, the lack of a contract, and the ability to use it outside the home).

Now she's unhappy with it because she has trouble with the clip and wants a necklace type of device. Friends of hers recommended Linear and Life Alert.

I just want her to have something she'll be able to use, so I'm starting over.

If anyone has experience with these or other devices, I would be grateful if you would tell me the pros and cons as you see them. Thank you!

I live in another state, so I did the research and ordered the device, and my sister, who lives near our mother, set up her profile with the company and showed her how to use it. I'd like to know if it can be done, though.

She has some difficulty understanding these days. We just want her to have this backup, since she insists on living alone.

Unfortunately, my mother has trouble using the clip. I think it's a great product, and the people I talked to when I ordered it were very helpful with my (numerous) questions. If they'd make a true necklace version, I might be able to convince my mother to stick with it.

On the other hand, once she gets an idea in her head . . . and the idea is that she wants a necklace! Still hoping to talk her out of it.

I have the bracelet also, but don't use it that much because I wore it at night and rolled over onto it and activated it, so I only wear it during the day. I also have an alert device that can adhered to a wall, which I have in the kitchen because I had a fall there and had a hell of a time getting up.
