Suspending Von Miller for over 1/3 of the football season for smoking a joint is just stupid.

I don't smoke myself, but come on. Really? He wasn't blood doping, juicing, or taking HGH. Von Miller smoked a joint. Stupid. NFL is out of control.

But that's just because I am a Raiders fan.

Removing all bias, I have to say that I agree with you on the real issue.

1.) It's incredibly dumb to call the use of a non-performance-enhancing drug a violation of the league's substance policy.

2.) I've seen some of those contracts...some NFL contracts go so far as to specify that the player cannot smoke tobacco or drink as the use of any intoxicating substance may impair performance under penalty of loss of salary. In that sense, I'm not willing to call marijuana use less impairing than beer or cigarettes.

Looking at it from a non-linear viewpoint, if weed were legal (as it is in CO where he lives and plays) and his contract specified he could be suspended for using it...I couldn't oppose the suspension...it's a matter of contract-law and not one of morality.
