I was thinking about the VMA awards last night.
I hear people say "Yeah, we had great tunes like 'Fortunate Son' when we were younger..."
Do you know what song was #1 when Fortunate Son came out?

The VMA is an extension of this, they celebrate what is popular now, but will be laughed at derisively later.

I point out that "Disco Duck" made more money and was played on the radio at the same time as "Fly Like An Eagle" and I get silence. 
I couldn't help laughing every time they played it on the radio 
A load of crappy music back when the music was better, but at least we could tell the artists and songs apart from each other
IOW, most of the Pop music today sounds the same no matter who's doing it
At least back in the 70s we could tell Paul Anka's "You're Having My Baby" from The Captain and Tenille's "Muskrat Love"
