I chose to forego twilight anesthesia. It's over. It's uncomfortable.
I'll live, but it's going to be an uncomfortable two days. My entire leg is wrapped in a tight compression bandage that comes off Wed evening. Kind of throbs.
I decided to not have them knock me out, because that stuff always makes me sick. So, I got to watch a bit, talk with the cardiologist and techs, who are all very nice, very friendly. He appealed to my macho side, told me I was one tough guy, as he was pumping my legs full of lidocaine in about 30 spots and pumping in a liter of fluid. Little does he know what a mess I was a year ago, LOL. The only thing that made me a little queasy was seeing him pick up the scalpel a few times.
I hope the outcome is good, insufficiency in the right leg was, per the doctor, "5 on a scale of 1-4". Really horrible veins, they covered a lot of territory and cooked a lot of vein. If some problems remain after 6 months, a do-over or an alternate procedure of vein stripping (yuck!).
I'm going to actually listen and take the day off. Probably won't even go for one of my 50 mile rides.
