The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumsuh oh, the cats have noticed the suitcase
the fat one is shouting at me and the dim one has been trying to burrow into my armpit every time i sit down. and they're going to be super pissed, we won't be back until tuesday night and the longest we've ever been away is two nights. my sister will be stopping by to hang out with them, but they're still going to be mad for abandoning them so long.
we're out of here at the crack of dawn for a 12-13 hour drive to see my mom outside the quad cities. we're taking our new-to-us f150 and i'm hoping my husband is right about the kind of mileage it's going to get. we can't take the volvo because it needs some work and i'm not comfortable taking it on a road trip without having gotten it done. on the upside, the truck has ac while the volvo does not, something that will come in handy as the heat index out there has been 105+.

(149,574 posts)Have a great trip! And you know the cats would have spotted stuff anyway, sooner or later...
They're also probably picking up on your own vibes.
I hope you'll both have fun, and not worry about the kitties...
They will be fine!

(24,146 posts)but i think they definitely picked up that something was going on before the suitcase came out and that just confirmed their suspicions.
i suspect the fat one will not talk to us when we get home but the dim one will be all about us.

(10,237 posts)the animals don't get edgy and you can tell them you're going to get them treats and be right back ,they fall for it a few times .
We have the same situation about vehicles ,my guzzler pick up is comfy and has a great air conditioner but gets a whopping 19-23 mpg on the highways below 179 miles per hour which sucks on those 890 mile trips to Eugene on the world's most boring road -5 north .

It's a 1979 - still on the road.
I wouldn't worry too much about the gas mileage (it surely will be less frugal than the Volvo)
Just enjoy your trip
and the A/C!

(24,146 posts)i've made the drive in an 82 volvo and the seats on that are not all that awesome, so i can handle it, but it would be nice.

(6,154 posts)I'm sure the cats will be fine, especially with your sister dropping by. I was going to say I'm sure they will forgive you but I was thinking of dogs not cats lol Cat's are evil

(22,845 posts)because our cats showed their displeasure by peeing on it in our absence.
Got into the shower Monday morning after a weekend out of town, looked down and found two cat poops on the shower floor.

(23,203 posts)She thought suitcases were a fancy new litter-box--just for her--so she peeed in 'em. Once you got 'em out, you had to keep 'em zipped--opened only if you were putting something in, or taking something out. Otherwise, she was into 'em, doing her dirty work.
Bad Kitty!
