I was wearing a pair of Doc Marten oxfords in clinic the other day, and a patient saw them and asked

if I was a Mormon!

I told him no, and he told me that Docs are what a lot of Mormon missionaries wear when pounding the pavement because they are durable and comfortable.

I had never considered that wearing Docs might be a 'secret handshake' for any group except punk-rockers, riot grrrrls, and people who like cool-looking, long-lasting footwear...

I've got five pairs. Including the replacement pair of black boots I got after my first ever pair of Docs (purchased in 1998) finally wore out in 2011!

the fall trend for boots this year is faux combat boots.

I have 6 pair of riding boots (much to my husband's chagrin because of the $$$) that I wear with skirts/leggings/jeans but jumped the gun and ordered a pair of the faux combat ones from Macy's and I'm like, why didn't I just order Docs?

I love boots!

I wore dressier shorts, shirt, and hikers. Really comfortable, I wish I could dress like that everyday.

Today and for two weeks, I feel like Tim Currie in Rocky Horror Picture Show, wearing pantyhose. Only on one leg - tight compression stocking all the way to my hip joint. Bear to get in, and uncomfortable, it's 30-40 mm Hg compression. Hate it.

lower extremity edema in my patients. That, and venous insufficiency.

If you can sport them like Tim Curry in RHPS, that's not a bad thing, right?

Bad childhood memories. My father was a perv, 'nough said.

I had the ablation Monday. I declined the sedatives, so I got to watch. The cardiologist is a super guy and great physician, it was pretty cool to learn about it, and really not painful.

Bad news, I have a reall bad cluster on my thigh, the ultrasound tech said the procedure didn't kill those off, so the Dr will probably recommend surgical removal. As long as it's in 2013 so BCBSM covers post-deductible.

But I have three exam rooms full all day long, and I run back and forth between them like a madman, trying to see 18-24 patients a day...

Comfortable shoes are a must...

I used to scoff at spending all that money on shoes but after my first year in the restaurant business let me tell you proper shoes make it that much easier to stand in the kitchen 12 hours a day.

I love my Docs, and I come from a staunch VW family. But I won't wear or use anything by Hugo Boss, since they manufactured uniforms for the Nazis during World War II.

I guess the determining factor is, Hugo Boss used slave labor, and VW didn't. A distinction without a difference.

There's a group called SHARP - Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice.

They like the skinhead lifestyle; the haircuts, the tattoos, the boots, etc. But they're not into white supremacy and bigotry. So they formed a group to let people know that they are not those skinheads.
